Ahoy Mates,
I hope this note finds you all healthy, hearty and recovered from the holidays.
I just wanted to quickly remind everyone that our 10th Sea Devil Reunion on May 5th through the 7th is rapidly approaching, so now that the holiday craziness is over, don't forget to get your registration in as soon as possible. Doing so will help me and the rest of the SDR X committee with our planning and prep work (ordering beverages, making name tags, transportation reservations etc.)
The other issue I would like to share is that there has been a cost increase and slight menu reduction for the Saturday Banquet.
The cost increase ($17.08 per plate) is partially due to food costs, but largely due to the service charge and taxes per plate. This latter increase was my fault for not including these in the first place. I completely missed the very fine print at the bottom of the menu (cleverly placed below the hotel logo) and wrongly assumed the price included these for the Cafe style dinners.
In discussing this, the Reunion Committee felt it fair that we cover this increase with the Sea Devil Funds, so, you need not worry about this. We just felt we should share the information as an FYI. That said, those of you that can afford it and are so moved (especially after a couple beers) are welcome to throw a couple extra bucks in the 'Booze Kitty' in the Hospitality Room - but we want to emphasize that this is neither expected, nor necessary.
For the reduced menu, I've selected the following:
Entrees:
Herb Roasted Chicken (GF)
Roast Pork Loin
Sliced Herb Crusted Roast Beef
Vegetables:
Oven Roasted Potatoes
Southern Style Green Beans (GF)
Dessert
Cheesecake (set on table)
Notes:
1. A salad and rolls are still included.
2. I am asking about a Gluten Free desert.
I believe the above menu will still offer good variety and a delicious and filling meal.

Ahoy, Crewmates and Family,
The 10th Sea Devil Reunion Committee met on Saturday, Nov. 13th, and unanimously agreed to put the pandemic blues in our stern and commit to the planned May 4 (Wed) - 7 (Sat), 2022 dates.
As already announced this reunion will be in historic Williamsburg Virginia, with daily trips to Colonial Williamsburg on Thursday, the Mariner’s Museum on Friday and Historic Jamestown on Saturday. Also, for those that want, on Saturday afternoon, a quick trip to Jamestown Settlement.
Our Reunion Banquet will be on Saturday, the 7th.
In addition, as this reunion coincides with the 50th anniversary of his assumption of command of Sea Devil, Admiral Fountain would like to invite all those who cruised with him in those eventful years, together with their sweethearts, to dinner with him on Friday night, the 6th (the night before the Reunion Banquet). Uniform is shirts and slacks. Dinner and the first beer are on Admiral Fountain; after that you’re on your own!

Hotel specifics:
- Rates: Do not try to change the "Rate Applied" (currently set to group code 042121SEA). The rates will only go up. - Dates: The dates are defaulted to May 4 - 7, but can be adjusted to 2 days prior and post with the same discounts.
- Calling: If you decide to just call instead of reserving on line, be sure to mention that this is for the Sea Devil Reunion, or you wont get the lowest rates. This will also help with my head count.
- Trouble Reserving: If you have any problems, please call the hotel, note that this is for the Sea Devil Reunion and they will happily make the reservations. The Hotel Phone is: 757 220-2250
- Rooms: The rooms have either 2 doubles, or a single king. ADA rooms have 2 double beds.
- Check-in, Check-out: 4PM and 11AM, respectively.
- Mobility Issues: If you have mobility issues, please note the following:
* They have 12 ADA rooms, so you might want to reserve early to guarantee one of these
* You can request a room near the Banquet Hall to minimize your walking.
* They only have 3 wheelchairs available for reservation, so reserve early if you need one.
- Refunds: The hotel will provide a full refund if you cancel up to 3 days prior to your reservation.
* Skip will refund your banquet and all ‘Day Trip’ fees.
