
BUSINESS MEETING SDR VIII 7/21/17
17:32 Meeting called to order by Commander Lynd
OLD BUSINESS
Officer Position Defined as:
Commander - Ed Lynd
Associate Commander / Chaplain - Jim Schenk
Secretary - Homer Waters
Treasurer - Mickey Martin
Mickey gave a report on SDR finances. The treasury has approximately $6000.00. He explained the amounts that were generated by our past reunions, including the successful Annapolis reunion.
Yogi made a motion to accept the treasurer's report, Skip Harrington seconded, all voted “AYE”.
Commander Lynd provided an update on the Sea Devil database. George Boyle handed over the master database to Com. Lynd. George indicated he had sent out several emails and received a variety of responses. Com. Lynd suggested reaching out to those shipmates who might not be aware of our upcoming submarine veterans reunion schedule.
A question for Treasurer Martin was raised regarding what will eventually happen with the SDR funds. Chief Mickey indicated that once defunct, the funds would be distributed to submarine functions.
New Business
Open Discussions Voting on SDR officers:
A motion was made to keep existing officers in place. Com. Lynd indicated that Jim Schenk would like to drop his duties as Associate Commander; however, he would remain SDR chaplain. John Flynn was nominated for Associate Commander, and he accepted.

A motion was made to accept the officers as mentioned. By Skip Harrington
Seconded by Dr. John Herwig, all voted “AYE”.
SDR IX Venue
Several venues were discussed, including North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Charleston, S.C. It was determined that we had several members in the Charleston area who could assist with the upcoming USS Sea Devil reunion.
Motion made by Mickey Martin, seconded by John Flynn, all voted “AYE”. So, Charleston will be the next reunion site.
After some discussion about the time of year for the reunion, it was determined to hold it in/around April, and the committee members will finalize the exact dates and timing.
A motion to close the meeting was made by Skip Harrington, seconded by John Flynn, and all voted “AYE”.
