Uss Sea Devil reunion 2011 wrap 201-300

George, please add to your "All Hands" the following:
"Homer did a great job in organizing and conducting this reunion, and we owe him a vote of thanks. I extend mine personally. Attendance was somewhat lower than previously the case but we still had about 100 members and guests and it went well. Counterintuitively, not all that many members still live up that way as many retirees have left for warmer climes.
Compared to our days the SUBASE seems a bit diminished, what with the drawdown in numbers of ships and departure of the SSBN off-crews and their families, plus a smaller SUBSCHOOL throughput. Those who toured found the new trainers very impressive. A VIRGINIA-class boat was not available but an SSN 688 was opened to us and the NAUTILUS Submarine Museum has been greatly expanded since I last was there.
Radm Chabot and I both attended as did an impressive number of Commissioning Crew officers. The Goat Locker was well represented by ETCM(SS) Mike Martin and a number of other senior leaders, ship's company and riders alike.
Capt Hollis Holden has graciously "volunteered" to organize the spring 2013 reunion in Kings Bay since he now lives near there. (Those of you not present take note, as those PRESENT elect the next coordinator!) I look forward to seeing you all next time!
Best regards,
Radm Bob Fountain."
All hands,
This will be a final report for the 2011 Sea Devil reunion. I hope everyone had a great time here in Connecticut, I would like to thank all those that attended making it a wonderful time. I am enclosing the minutes from the business meeting held on Sunday morning. The next reunion will be in the Kings Bay area of Georgia, in the spring of 2013, hopefully we will have a great turn out. For those that have not attended a Sea Devil reunion in the past, there was a few first timers at this reunion and I get the impression they will be back.
Financially: after all the bills were paid I sent Chief Mickey a check for $1095.47.
